A Grateful Heart

We bought an SUV

but it feels like so much more than that.

My husband and I have been hemming and hawing about purchasing an SUV for almost a year. We never purchase anything without doing our research and are precocious about what we spend our money on, hence why it took us a year. We needed reasons for our purchase; we hope and pray we need more room in the near future, my car has been in and out of the shop (thank goodness for extended warranties!) and my husband has had a great year and deserves something new and shiny.

In the beginning, we agreed on very little. I was also on the fence about purchasing anything in the near future with so much money being allotted to IVF.

I would be lying if I said there were not 1-2 heated arguments this past year regarding the purchase of a car. We can be two very hard headed individuals.

but most importantly and what I think I am most proud of is our ability to work through our differences and compromise.

There is so much about our marriage that I am grateful for, but in the end its our ability to compromise but also not have to compromise on one big thing; our values because they align perfectly.

In the end, our car purchase was not reason I was over the moon, but it was rather seeing how much we do have to be grateful for.  It's so easy to not see these things during the difficult times. I vow to count my blessings more often - especially during the more difficult and trying times, and to be thankful for the difficult times because its during the difficult times that we grow.
